Alejandro Saperavi

New South Wales 2021 Saperavi

Wine Description

This is the exact same wine as the Muddy Puddles Saperavi, bottled the same day 20 minutes apart.

What is a Saperavi?

Saperavi is a dark-skinned grape variety that originates from the country of Georgia, where it has been cultivated for thousands of years. It is one of the most important and popular grape varieties in Eastern European winemaking.

Saperavi is a rare grape type called a teinturier grape, meaning it has pigmented flesh as well as skin, which gives the wine a deep, rich colour, and its name in the Georgian language “dye”. It has robust flavours, including dark berries (like blackberries and blackcurrants), plum, and hints of spices and chocolate, a full-bodied wine without the tannin of something like a shiraz.

Overall, Saperavi is cherished for its ability to produce bold, complex wines that are deeply connected to the Georgian culture and history.

Vintage: 2021 Black SCREWCAP.
